Searches called off, no militant bodies recovered, rebels managed to escape

Government forces on Wednesday evening called off the search operation at the gunfight site in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district after no militant bodies were retrieved from the debris of the blasted houses.
Earlier, forces said a search operation was launched to retrieve the militant bodies from the site of the firefight that broke out last night at Wani Mohalla. However, no militant bodies were recovered from the debris.
Meanwhile, The two militants have managed to escape from the gunfight site in Khudwani area of district Kulgam.
Local sources told Kashmir Post that as locals were clearing the rubble, they found both the militants in an injured condition.
They said one has managed to escape from the gunfight site while another was still with the locals at the site in an injured condition.

Forces had earlier detonated the house in which the militants were holed up by using explosives, razing it to the ground. Two adjacent houses also caught fire. Army had even used helicopter gunships to fight out the militants. A soldier and four civilians were killed and sixty others injured in the clashes.
